The World's Only Battery-Powered Metal Hose Reel Box: Electric Rewind + Manual Crank

The Short Answer: The RELHOST RW-24-E is a freestanding metal hose reel cabinet with battery-powered rewind — and it is the only model of its kind that also keeps a full manual crank as a built-in backup. Electric when you want it, manual when you need it.

If you have ever wound 125 feet of wet garden hose by hand, you know exactly why hose storage is the least enjoyable part of yard work. Metal hose reel cabinets solved the storage problem, but until now, every one of them asked you to do the winding yourself. The RELHOST RW-24-E changes that.

One Button Does the Winding

With the RW-24-E, rewinding is a single press of the button on the hose box. Press briefly to start the feed, press again to stop. The built-in self-protection system automatically stops the rewind if the hose meets an obstacle, so you can clear it and resume without damaging the hose or the feed mechanism.

No cords, no outlets — the unit runs on a Dewalt 20V MAX lithium-ion battery, the same battery platform many homeowners already own for their power tools.

Two Ways to Rewind: Electric + Manual

The RW-24-E is built for flexibility. If the battery is dead, drained, or simply not inserted, the included crank handle takes over completely — you are never stuck with a reel you cannot wind.

  • Battery-powered rewind: press the button on the hose box to start and stop. The hose feeds itself back inside.
  • Manual crank rewind: use the crank handle. The manual recommends walking the hose end back so it forms a "U" shape in front of the reel, which makes cranking noticeably easier.

Runs on the Dewalt 20V Battery You Already Own

The RW-24-E is compatible with:

  • Dewalt XR DCB203 20V Max 2.0Ah (36Wh)
  • Dewalt XR DCB182 20V Max 4.0Ah (72Wh)

The battery is not included, so there is no proprietary pack to buy — if you already run Dewalt 20V tools, the battery you own is the power source.

The operation panel shows the charge level while the hose feed runs:

Indicator Battery state of charge
Red + yellow + green 70–100%
Red + yellow 30–70%
Red 0–30%

A few battery habits worth following: remove the battery when you are not using the product, keep the battery hatch closed, charge only Dewalt 20V MAX lithium-ion batteries, and let the battery cool for at least 30 minutes after use before charging. Charging should be done in ambient temperatures between 0°C and 45°C.

A Metal Cabinet That Hides the Whole Hose

The RW-24-E is a real cabinet, not a plastic tub. It holds up to 125 feet of standard 5/8" garden hose (hose not included; capacity may vary depending on the type of hose) behind slatted metal walls, so your yard stays clean and the hose stays protected.

  • Dimensions: 21.8" x 20.1" x 18.8" (55.4 x 51.1 x 47.8 cm)
  • Net weight: 30.4 lbs (13.8 kg)
  • Included: leader hose, crank handle, stop ball package, ground peg, and hardware
  • No drilling, no wall mounting — it stands on its own legs, and a ground peg anchors it in place. (Important: install the ground peg before rewinding; without it the reel may move or overturn during the rewind process.)

The Honest Boundaries

We would rather tell you the limits up front:

  • Do not use the product in rain or wet conditions.
  • Working temperature is 32–104°F (0–40°C). Store the reel indoors during colder months and drain the hose before freezing weather.
  • Connect only to a water supply below 100 psi, and release the pressure when not in use.
  • Keep fingers, hair, and clothing away from the hose feed compartment, and do not spray water into it.
  • The battery is not included and should be protected from moisture, rain, and heat.

Who Is This For?

  • Dewalt tool owners: the battery platform you already have becomes the power source.
  • Large-yard homeowners: 125 feet of reach with no cranking session at the end of it.
  • Renters and no-drill homes: freestanding metal cabinet, nothing mounted to the wall.
