Hose Reel Troubleshooting FAQ: Retraction, Leaks & Installation

Q1: My hose won't retract — is it broken?

Most likely not! Hose retraction issues are usually caused by hose misalignment from shipping, not a defect. Before contacting support, do a quick sound check while pulling the hose out:

  • Clicking sound heard → Follow Method 1 (Realign the Hose)
  • No sound / completely loose → Follow Method 2 (contact us for support)

Q2: How do I fix a hose that won't retract? (Method 1 — Most Common)

This fixes 95% of retraction issues in under 5 minutes:

  1. Pull it all the way out — Put on gardening gloves. Pull the hose until you see the yellow line near the reel end. Make sure it is fully extended.
  2. Straighten the hose — Lay the hose flat on the ground. Smooth out any kinks, twists, or overlapping loops so it is completely straight.
  3. Guide it back slowly — Slowly guide the hose back into the reel. Do not let go — let it retract smoothly until fully wound.

⚠️ Caution: Do not let the hose slam back into the reel. Guiding it gently by hand prevents damage and keeps the spring working longer.

Q3: My hose retracts automatically and won't lock in place — what's wrong?

This means the lock component has failed. The hose retracts by itself after pulling out because the lock can no longer hold it in position. This requires disassembly and lock replacement. Please contact us for support or parts.

Q5: My hose reel is leaking internally — what are the causes?

Internal leaks require disassembly or official service. Common causes include:

  • Outlet nozzle cracked — Material fatigue or impact can cause the nozzle to crack. Requires disassembly and replacement.
  • Connection loose — Temperature fluctuations can make the clamp loose. Requires disassembly to tighten the clamp.
  • Hose damaged externally or internally — External force or internal defects can compromise the hose. Requires disassembly and replacement.

Q6: How do I correctly install the reel onto the wall bracket?

Follow this crucial Three-Step Alignment process:

  1. Mount the top body onto the shaft — Align the slot on the reel body with the guide on the shaft and slide it down.
  2. Fit the bracket from below — Slide the lower bracket up so its slot matches the same shaft guide.
  3. Press body and bracket together — Push the two halves together until they sit flush and the reel can rotate freely.

✅ Once all three steps are complete, the reel rotates 180° smoothly with no resistance.
